The beginner’s guide to getting the most out of your first junior developer position is a great idea. Anecdotally, it feels like there’s a of “How to get your first developer job” as opposed to “You’ve got the job, now what?” type stuff, especially considering how we’re trying to diversify tech and there seems to be a boom of people trying to get into the field. Could be a nice little book/blog series like YDKJS.

Throwing out a few ideas for chapters:

  • imposter Syndrome, beating imposter syndrome
  • being comfortable with being uncomfortable
  • learning how to learn
  • internalising successes, reflect early, reflect often (goal setting, etc)
  • utilising peers, making the most out of mentor’s time
  • identifying/recognising burnout, self care etc
  • knowing when to leave

Since everyone deals with stuff differently, it would be cool to get different people’s experiences on how they deal with the above.

TLDR: Yas, great ideas.
